Description

In the 1920s and the 1930s, many housing estates were built around European large cities. In France they were called“ Cité-Jardin”. There is one of these housing estates named“ Cité-Jardin du Plessis-Robinson” at the southern outskirt of Paris. But this housing estate and the City of le Plessis-Robinson have many problems because of the lack of maintenance of buildings after the WW II and the circumstances of construction and also its geometry. So this housing estate was rehabilitated and reconstructed in some phases. Reconstructed areas had been designed to resolve these problems. The last area of reconstruction named“ La nouvelle cité- jardins” got“ le Grand prix européen de l＇urbanisme en 2012”. The author extracted some suggestions for the rehabilitation of Japanese housing estates from the planning and design of these reconstructed areas.
