説明

The spreading tendency of the recent volcanic activity in Japan is discussed from the geological and petrological view points. The volcanic activity in Japan is considered to be a part of the large scale volcanism which was migrated or spreaded outwards from the inner side to the outer side of the orogenic zone throughout Eastern and Southeastern Asia in the late Tertiary, and Quaternary epochs. As to the volcanic activities in historic times, the charts showing the time-place relation for the eruptions in Japan were constructed (Fig. 61_3), and the direction and velocity of propagation of activity wase found. The recent activity seems to propagate in turn from SW to NE, at an average velocity of 15-17 Km or 5-7 Km per year.
