Head as measured from bases of nasal processes 2.4 in body length as measured from bases of nasal processes to base of caudal; depth 4.3; eye 5 in head; interorbital 4.6; snout 1.8; maxillary 2.6; depth of caudal peduncle 7.5; third (longest) dorsal spine 4. Snout very long, about equal to depth of body; its upper profile slightly concave; nasal processes slender, very long, nearly parallel; their length about equal to snout; interorbital space slightly concave, wider than eye diameter; maxillary extending to end of first twothirds of length of snout; teeth in jawa in narrow bands; no teeth on vomer or palatines; opercular spine very small, appears as a mere ridge; nuchal spine short, as long as eye-diameter; humeral spine still shorter. Color in formalin light orang, pale below; upper parts of head and body scattered with spots and irregular bands of greenish; edge of membrane between first and fourth spines of spinous dorsal blackish; pectoral, except lowermost five rays, brown on inner side, crossed with four obscure blackish bands. The species is allied to Pterygotrigla ryukyuensis MATSUBARA & HIYAMA, but differs from the latter in having much longer snout and nasal processes and much smaller nuchal and humeral spines.
