抄録

本小論は、昭和戦前期、特にいわゆる「戦時期」における部落会の具体的な事例を主に『第２回全国優良部落会、町内会、部落会長、町内会長表彰事績概要』に見ようとするものである。その結果、それぞれの部落会の活動は決して画一的ではなく、その地理的・歴史的諸条件を生かしつつ創意工夫を行っていることが判明した。また、その活動内容・方法に共同体の本質を探る可能性があることを指摘した。今後ますます議論が高まるであろう「町村合併」等、これからの地域社会を展望していくためにもこの時期の「部落会」を考察することは意義のあることだと思われる。@@@This paper attempts to find the major characteristics of the neighborhood associations in Okinawa. The paper examines the achievement document of official commendation in 1944, as well as, the name of the best neighborhood association in all-Japan, the best head of neighborhood association, town block association, the best head of town block association. The results reveal that associations in a district are not the same; each association made some adjustments with the government order according to its geographical location, weather, land. people, and history. It was also found that the activities and the way of conducting activities in each association reveal the essence of the community. In order to predict future local community in Okinawa, for instance, the idea of combining village with town, it is worthwhile to examine the neighborhood associations during this period (1925-45).
