Abstract
A region of interest (ROI) coding function has been defined for JPEG2000. ROI coding is a technique for improving a partial image quality by assigning priority to ROI. However, when multiple ROIs need to be coded, the coding performance degrades since some non-ROI coefficients are encoded. We improve the wavelet transform and EBCOT in JPEG2000, and show that the proposed method achieves higher PSNR than JPEG2000 ROI coding.
