Abstract
Japanese railway took a successful safety record in comparison with other countries. However,its reliability including availability is not necessarily favorable recently. This owes to taking much time for repairing in the case of system failure on railway in Japan. Accordingly, it is important to take measures for upgrading availability on ailway and for this reason, it is necessary to foreknow the failure beforehand as though it is important to detect failure and stop safely. This paper describes the example of reliability analysis considering failure detection, foreknowledge and exchange of units that succeed foreknowledge on railway.
