Abstract

Most creative activities are influenced in some way by other works of the past. In particular, "homage," which is intentional imitation with respect, is widely used in a variety of contents regardless of genre. Digital archives have made it possible to view a wide variety of works, which has increased the opportunities for exposure to works without a common knowledge base between the creator and the viewer. By explicitly stating homage, some have criticized the process of imitating past works as plagiarism. This paper clarifies how homage influences the evaluation of a work. Through these, it will provide useful implications for suggestions based on the relationship between works.
