<p>The purpose of this paper is to analyze the causes of the failure of GE's DX strategy from previous studies. Then, looking back at GE's past, the paper introduces the process that led to its strategy to become a digital industry company. In addition, the paper summarizes the factors behind the failure of the DX strategy including a trap that large manufacturing companies tend to fall into. The factors that lead to the trap of DX in the manufacturing industry are lack of complementor perspective, friction between internal organizations, failure to respond to activists, and excessive expectations of DX by top management.</p>
