Description

Kobe City Medical Center General Hospital underwent a construction /relocation in 2011. We planned to implement a computerized medicalrecords system. or so-caled electronic health records (EHRs). In the new hospital. we do not use any paper charts for patients. The refore.we had to scan all of the charts into the EHRs. Since the project took al arge amount of time and work,th e plan was designed in 2008 and the work was started in 2009.W e encountered dificultiesin convertingp aper charts to EHRs.H owever.w e completed these actions. while resolving these diccultiesworking with our partners. Although digitization of entire paper charts of patients is rarely performed, it provides significant benefits for daily practices and hospital management.
