Abstract

In my previous paper, I serially recorded Narushima Nobuyuki’s career from 1689 to 1746. This paper presents a detailed account of the literature attributed to him between late 1746 and early 1747. In the winter of 1746, Nobuyuki provided a foreword to Tazawa Yasuakira’s Kasen-Kou and wrote Noji-Taizen, an agricultural guide book. In January 1747, Nobuyuki congratulated Nakamura Ranrin on his promotion from a doctor to a Confucian of the shogunate. In May, he mourned for Sugano Kenzan, a private Confucian of Edo. As was customary, he also served as a mediator between the inner circle of retired shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune and the librarians of Momijiyama Library.
