Highly Productive Inkjet System for Printing with Digitally Embossed Structure

Abstract

<p>Inkjet technology, with which we can digitally print, have enlarged its application in many kinds of fields including industrial uses. Recently, technique for printing with digitally embossed structure, which are called 2.5D printing technique, are also realized using inkjet technology. However, it's difficult for usual 2.5D printing technique to form a large embossed structure (in excess of 100μm) at a enough productivity for industrial uses. In order to overcome that difficulty, we developed a new single-pass inkjet system with foamnig agent and inhibiting ink (special ink for inhibiting foam.) Our experimental results show the system can produce an embossed structure in excess of 100 μm at a same productivity to produce that of about 10 μm, and its productivity reaches over 100mm·s-1. Those specifications indicate that, using our system, 2.5D printing technique can be utilized in industrial uses.</p>
