Abstract

This study is intended to develop the learning programs to help with enjoying the museums for everyone. It may be difficult for Blind or Deaf visitors to enjoy the exhibition at museums. For example, in the aquarium, Blind visitors cannot touch the creatures because the glass plate of the water tank becomes barrier. In addition, Deaf visitors cannot enjoy the show-style exhibitions because they can not hear the announce. In this article, we introduce the learning materials and the design process of the program for the prior learning of the aquarium visit. These teaching materials are comprised of stuffed creatures, a video (DVD) with sign language, and the teaching guide for the teachers. This program can provide the understanding of “the evolution of birds” through the penguins. This paper discusses the design points for Blind or Deaf visitors through our case study.
