- Effect of Interfacial Treatment by L-lactic Acid on Mechanical Properties of β-tricalcium Phosphate/Poly(lactic acid) Composites
説明

β-TCP/PLA composite is attracted the attention as a material of bone fixation device to replace metal because it doesn’t require removal by reoperation after implantation in the body. However, mechanical property of β-TCP/PLA composite was low. Drawing and internal treatment were attracted the as a method to improve the mechanical properties of β-TCP/PLA composite. Therefore, it is necessary to confirm the strength improvement by interfacial treatment in this study. In this study, effect of interfacial treatment by L-lactic acid on mechanical properties of β-TCP/PLA composites was investigated. The surface of β-TCP particle was treated by L-lactic acid and stearic acid of 0, 6, 24 phc. In this study, "phc" was defined to the amount of binding agent per 100 g of β-TCP. β-TCP/PLA composite was prepared by heatkneading of internal treated β-TCP and PLA. β-TCP content of this composite was 30 mass%. β-TCP/PLA was molded and then mechanical properties were determined by the tensile test. As a result, the tensile strength of internal treated β-TCP/PLA by L-lactic acid decreased about 17.7 % at 6 phc and about 59.9 % at 24 phc. On the other hand, the tensile strength of internal treated β-TCP/PLA by stearic acid improved about 50.8 % at 6 phc and about 20.9 % at 24 phc. Therefore, the mechanical property of internal treated β-TCP/PLA by stearic acid of 6 phc might be expected to be further improved by drawing.
