Continuing from our previous study, we conducted another survey on the nutrients and food additives indicated on the labels of eight varieties of commercially prepared rice balls sold at convenience stores. Nutrient information on the labels included calorie amounts, protein, fat, carbohydrate, and sodium chloride equivalent, which had respective nutritional values of 176-228 kcal, 2.7-6.7 g, 0.9-6.0 g, 35.2-43.9 g, and 0.9-1.9g. An average of 6.3 kinds of food additives were found to be used, among which seasonings such as pH adjusters (87.5%) and amino acids (71.9%) were frequently seen on the label.
