Description

This study analyzes the time series of cell phone location data, COVID-19 pandemic, in order to clarify the characteristics of behavioral changes in Kanazawa city. The model explains the time-series changes of the population staying in downtown Kanazawa by adding up several time-series patterns. The time series patterns include the following four: periodic changes from the whole period (including before pandemic), long-term trends of changes on the order of months, periods of emergency declarations and requests by the government, changes in the number of infected people. As a result, we find several characteristics. First, there is a clear negative correlation between the time trend of the average value of PCR-positive patients in Ishikawa Prefecture over the previous seven days and the number of visitors to the center of Kanazawa City. Second, although people’s sensitivity to the policy and the number of infected people decreases over time, the breakdown differs significantly between daytime and nighttime activities.
