- THE PROCESS OF DESIGN CHANGES OF THE GRI MUSEUM
抄録

The GRI Museum (GRI: Government of the Ryukyu Islands), which was constructed in Okinawa during the period of U.S. military governance in 1966, was designed with a modern flat-roof. However, in its first design stage, its design was a direct copy of Shuri Castle, and in the next stage, a design that imitated Shuri Castle was selected again through a design competition.

This study presents a detailed overview of the design process of the GRI Museum project and introduces various architectural viewpoints on how to recognize regionalism architecture in the early stages of Okinawa's postwar period.
