Abstract
In this article, we report the practice of an advanced writing class that incorporates creative writing, in which works such as literature are created as a self-expression activity that conveys original works. In this practice, the theme consisted in writing the story of a person that the student learner met, and the course was designed in five weeks. In class, the learners sought suitable expressions through activities to share ideas and plots with others. Learner A wrote the story of three people, an older brother, a mother, and Professor M, in three expression modes. A chose Professor M as the best story to be read among the three works, and demonstrating repeated elaboration and ingenuity. By incorporating creative writing into the writing class in this way, the learners managed to broaden their range of self-expression.
