Abstract

Traffic control plays an important role in facilitating and ensuring the safety of vehicular traffic on roads. Currently, in urban area traffic congestion is a serious problem, and there is a lot of research on methods to appropriately manipulate the control parameters of traffic signals for the purpose of road traffic facilitation, but the observation targets of such research are limited to vehicles. However, Pedestrian is important factor in real traffic, the interference between vehicles and people forms the traffic situation, so it is important to consider pedestrians. In this paper, we propose a method for traffic signal split control based on parameter control to improve pedestrian traffic by considering pedestrian traffic in addition to vehicular traffic. Simulation of Urban Mobility(SUMO) is a micro traffic simulator, and used in the study to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method in reducing the loss time of pedestrians.
