Abstract

Lamellar armor, constructed of hundreds of small rectangular lamellae of wood, hide, bone, antler, bronze, or iron, has been widely used across Eurasia, from Europe to Japan. Rectangular lamellae with holes for lacing one to another with straps or cordsf irst appeared in Assyria in the eighth or seventh century B.C., then spread through central Asia to Siberia, Mongolia, China,Korea and finally Japan in the fifth century A.D.
