There are various methods for hydrological modeling of water basins and rivers. Depending on the main runoff factor, different models are applied. In high alpine regions, where a significant part of the runoff comes from the melt of seasonal snow and glaciers, methods considering snow and ice melt routines are essential for a complete understanding of runoff formation processes. Conceptual models where the melting rate of snow and ice are calculated directly by air temperature have shown effectiveness and high applicability, especially in data-scarce basins. However, such factors as topography, albedo and other components of physical processes are poorly represented in such methodology. In this study, we applied the energy and water balance model SiBUC coupled with the glacier mass balance model GLIMB for hydrological modeling of the Chon-Kyzyl-Suu river basin in the Tian-Shan High Mountains. The ratio of bare surface and glacier surface has been calculated by upscaling 100m resolution glacier grid data to 1km, and GLIMB model has been applied for glaciated sub-grids.
