Description

This study analyzed questionnaire data from 611 comprehensive child support centers, located throughout Japan, to clarify the actual condition and requirements for the facilities. Our results showed that most of these centers use their existing facilities, 16% have renovated, while only 3% have built new facilities. We showed the ratio of rooms provided for consultation, breastfeeding, play, and other activities, for each center. We also proposed guidelines for the size of each room and explained the nature of the requests and requirements for each facility. Further studies including observation surveys are required to fully develop these guidelines.
