Abstract

Background. Tracheobronchopathia osteochondroplastica (TO) is a rare disease with characteristic bronchoscopic findings. There are no reported cases of complicated polyps affecting treatment. Case. A 79-year-old woman was suspected of having lung cancer in the lower right lobe. When she underwent a transbronchial lung biopsy, she was also diagnosed with TO with many white ridges in the trachea and a polyp on the tracheal wall. On scrutiny, she was found to have resectable lung cancer, so she underwent endoscopic polypectomy before surgery and was able to undergo right lower lobe resection. Conclusion. A tracheal polyp with TO can be safely resected using flexible bronchoscopy.
