Abstract

In society today, it is common to display advertisements on large displays installed in public spaces such as stations and libraries. However, within a limited size of display, it is difficult to provide different information simultaneously and smoothly to multiple viewers with different viewing distances. In our research, therefore, we pay our attention to an existing method that adopts the concept of hybrid-image, in which the visual content is switched according as the viewing distance to the display. Then we propose a new method for displaying interactive buttons on the display as part of the hybrid-image so that viewers are allowed to find information they want more easily. In addition, we have developed an authoring tool, called HYDRO (HYbrid image Display Resolution Optimizer), with two kinds of optimization functions for hybrid-image advertisements. The visual effect of the optimized generated images was empirically confirmed.
