JGC Corporation launches a service called “HiGHGuardTM” that uses tech-nology to accurately capture GHG emissions from plants.
As a countermeasure to the internationally debated issue of greenhouse gas emissions, much attention is being paid to reducing emissions from oil and natural gas facilities, which have a large impact on greenhouse gas emis-sions. CO2 is the most common greenhouse gas emitted from plants, followed by methane. Compared to carbon dioxide, methane has about 28 times the impact on global warming. To reduce these emissions effectively, it is important to accurately capture the amounts of emissions, but methods for accurately capturing emissions are still in the development stage.
JGC have established a method to accurately calculate GHG emissions by combining methane measurement technologies such as drones, satellites, and infrared sensors with emissions calculation methods. This paper presents the details of this method.
