Abstract

We examined differences in the potential installation of photovoltaics (PV) in non-residential buildings in Japan, published by The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), The Ministry of Environment (MOE), and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). We modeled procedures employed in these publications for calculating annual power generation by PV. The model was applied to 66 non-residential buildings ready for zero-emission (denoted as “ZEB Ready”). Results showed that the constant ratio of annual power generation to the installable area (Q) and the constant ratio of the installable area to total area (Z) were identified as sensitive to the large rate of change, while solar radiation (HAm) depending on azimuth angles (ψ) were found insensitive. We assessed the method by NEDO-MIRI as the most elaborate among them, based on sensitivity analysis.
