Abstract

Giant Miscanthus (Miscanthus × giganteus) is a rhizomatous perennial C4 grass that has gained significant attention for its ability to produce high biomass in cool temperate regions, making it suitable for environmentally friendly regenerative agriculture. In 2020, a full-scale 2-hectare plot was established in Biratori-Town, Hidaka-Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan, where we conducted a comprehensive survey to assess its growth, biomass potential, and mechanical harvest feasibility. The findings revealed that stable biomass production and a consistent feedstock supply are achievable in the area.
