Abstract

This study aims at investigating educational effects resulting from creating and performing original musicals. The class consists of three processes: (1) Students create new musicals by themselves, (2) they learn new musical expressions for nursery school education through the creative experience, and (3) they enhance communicative skills to cooperate with one another. Paying attention to the changes in (1) students’ motives for learning, (2) their production of musical ideas based on their specialty, and (3) applicability to real nursery school situations, this study continued for some years with different students. The results show that this method is effective, and that it realizes a practice of new expression education suggested in Course of Study for Kindergarten.
