Abstract

The Wakayama poisoning case was that curry served at summer festival dated on July 25th, 1998, was poisoned by arsenic with a paper cup. The X-ray fluorescence raw data measured by Prof. Nakai submitted to the court was re-analyzed in the present paper. Prof. Nakai used only heavy elements (Mo, Sn, Sb, and Bi) to identify Specimen #1-#7, and concluded that they were all from the same origin; I have analyzed lighter elements (Fe, Zn, Mo, Ba, and As) reported in the Nakai's raw data, and concluded that the arsenic specimen which was found at the house of Mrs. H (Specimen #6), who is now at the deathrow, was significantly different from the arsenic specimen taken from the paper cup found at the venue.
