By conducting three case studies in Japan, this study thoroughly examines behaviors and determinants through field and questionnaire surveys and analyzes the relation. The results indicate the following main points: 1) raising the amount of activity requires utilizing the spaces based on roadside facilities; 2) the increase in the attractiveness of streets is influenced by factors connected with the rise in the reputation of shops, street atmosphere and walking and visiting environment; 3) the attractiveness of streets influence the amount of money spent and the number of shops visited.</p>
