Abstract
<p>This study aims to quantify the timing of water pipeline renewal through a simple analytical model applied to water utility entities nationwide, and to examine quantitatively the reduction of maintenance burden through pipeline reduction using specific pipeline network data. Firstly, utilizing water supply statistics data that comprehensively cover information on 1,388 water utility entities nationwide, we predict the timing of pipeline renewal and compared among regions, with the aid of Markov chain models and Weibull distribution while assuming the maintenance of the current pipeline network. Secondly, we conduct a study on off-grid, using network analysis based on the geographical configuration and age information of the actual water pipeline in Namegata City, Ibaraki Prefecture.</p>
