抄録

<p>This study takes the Shikemichi area, an important traditional conservation district in Nagoya, as an example to identify the current situation of excessive parking spaces resulting from the inappropriate use of vacant land due to the decline of water transport along Horikawa after the port modernization. Through analysis of the current distribution of parking spaces in this area and categorizing them based on their location and form, this paper examines the specific impact which 9 different prototypical categories have on the sense of place within historic street space, as well as exploring underlying logic behind it.</p>
