Abstract

The health management of company employees is identified mainly from regular health checkups, but it is difficult to directly understand the level of health with these tests. Moreover, identifying health level assessed from multiple test items is complex, and this method cannot be called easy. That is, assessment takes time and at the same time delays health care responses. This is conjectured to cause absenteeism and presenteeism, which are risks for decreased labor productivity. We therefore propose physical vitality level as a new human resource with which level of health can be easily assessed, which may be able to promote health management in companies. In this study, health level was defined as the level of physical vitality (vital energy), and physical activity level was estimated with the use of a health indicator called phase angle that is easily measured with BIA. Next, we selected high school students with strong physical ability who belonged to a powerful sports club, and compared phase angle with general high school students as a target group to examine physical activity level with phase angle. By performing these verifications, the significance of physical activity level may be proposed as a human resource.
