Abstract

A man in his 70s was transferred to our hospital with chief complaints of fever and impaired consciousness. He was diagnosed as having septic shock caused due to urinary tract infection, pyogenic spondylitis, iliopsoas abscess, brain abscess, bacterial meningitis, and infectious thoracic aortic aneurysm. During hospitalization, multiple myeloma was diagnosed as the cause of the immunodeficiency, but the patient died due to non-infectious disease. When we examine a patient with multiple infections, we should check for the presence of immunodeficiency background disease, including multiple myeloma.
