Abstract

The present study details the case of a 51-year-old female patient who reported sudden lower abdominal pain and was found to have multiple cutaneous neurofibromas and café-au-lait spots. A contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) scan revealed active bleeding from the right internal iliac artery, necessitating immediate transcatheter arterial embolization. Further clinical assessment confirmed the diagnosis of neurofibromatosis type I, a genetic disorder that may give rise to vascular complications, including aneurysms and vascular collapse. This highlights the necessity for vigilant surveillance and screening of vascular lesions in patients with neurofibromatosis type I.
