<p>The architectural magazine “Shikoku Kenchiku ” was published in Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, from June 1958 to around 1966. An architectural photographer Tokio Ueno edited and published the magazine. Not only architects and local historians from the Shikoku region, such as Tadashi Yamamoto and Masatsune Matsumura, but also Kenzo Tange and Yuichiro Kojiro from Tokyo contributed to the magazine. The magazine featured folk houses and public facilities that did not appear in magazines published in metropolises, such as Tokyo and Osaka at the time. The articles in “Shikoku Kenchiku ” indicate that architects in the Shikoku region recognized the importance of local context.</p>
