本論では，学生が多く居住する地域で「学生街」と称される街について，その役割や位置づけを明らかにしたうえで，1980年代の神田周辺を舞台に，当時の学生街とはなんだったのか，そして学生街はどのように変容したかを明らかにした．学生街とは，学生が多く居住している地域，または大学周辺地域で，学生，教員が集って頻繁に滞在する街空間であることを先行研究から確認した．学生街について江藤（2010）が述べた，「大学内部の快適さの変化と，また学生の生活行動の変化により，その構造を変化させながらそれぞれの学生が求める利便性として立ち現われている．」ことが，筆者による調査を通してより明確になった．具体的な変容要因として，店舗側からは再開発による高層ビルの発達やビジネス街の進出，チェーン店の進出が挙げられ，学生側からは学校施設の充実，連絡・情報収集手段の多様化などが挙げられた．

In this article, I will clarify the definition of a town which is called “Students’town” where a lot of students reside. And then Iʼll elucidate what “students’ town” was at that time and the change of there, giving an example of Kanda in 1980s. First of all, previous research has shown that students’ town is an area where many students live or a space around a university （where students and faculty members gather and stay frequently.） Then, as Eto（2010）said,“「Students town」 became a more convenience place for people who stay there, because a structure of a university became more comfortable and the lifestyle of student change gradually.” Concrete factors of that change which stores side mensioned are the increment of high-rise buildings due to redevelopment and the expansion of business district or famous chain stores. Students side said, fullness of school facilities and the diversification of the way to contact and gather information from the student side.
