Abstract

<p>This paper describes railway vehicle vibration mechanism whereby offset axlebox suspension elements position trigger car-body flexural vibration response. Due to layout constraints of axlebox suspension, axle dampers and coil spring are often set on offset position from axle center, thus we focused on coupling effect of axlebox pitching around axlebox bearing and bogie-frame vibration via coil spring, which play key role in exciting bogie-frame pitching and longitudinal vibration in frequency less than 20 Hz.To examine the coupling mechanism of car-body, bogie-frame and axlebox, we conducted whole vehicle vibration analysis, using Euler-Bernoulli beam model to represent 1st and 2nd car-body bending modes. Analysis results showed that coupling vibration of axlebox and bogie-frame pitching excited integrated car-body bending modes by averaging effect of vertical track irregularities when axlebox vertical damping force and coil spring horizontal force applied on the offset position from center of axlebox.</p>
