Abstract

Due to climate change, extreme rainfall events have become more frequent, causing notable damage to road bridges near small-to-medium-sized rivers. In past research, we identified vulnerable bridges during major floods. This study assesses bridges spanning small-to-medium-sized rivers, examining how regional and catchment variations impact flood probabilities. Our results show that flood likelihood varies by region and river conditions. We also observed varied rainfall patterns due to global warming and identified areas with increasing or decreasing rainfall. We suggest risk assessment techniques and measures for protecting bridges against potential flooding.
