Abstract

The open science movement, initiated in the early 2010s along with the context of data-driven science and concerns over research reproducibility and accountability, demands practical actions for managing and sharing research data effectively. This requires the response of all stakeholders involved in academic activities, not only researchers but also disciplinary communities and funding agencies and so on. In particular, academic institutions face diverse and complex issues as they mediate between researchers and other stakeholders. This paper discusses the approach to organizational support for research data management required for academic institutions and the initiative efforts being made.
