Abstract
The announcement of President Nixon's planned visit to China on July 15, 1972, triggered the so-called Nixon Shock. In response to this event, the Eisaku Sato administration began the study of its policy toward China. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the Southeast Asian foreign policy of the Prime Minister's Office at the Sato administration, by focusing on the Cabinet Committee for International Relations.
