Abstract

At the end of the ocean nature experience program, which was run by a certified NPO with government funding and, aimed at eliminating disparities in the experiences of children with developmental and intellectual disabilities parents also requested its continuation. Through a questionnaire survey of parents, this study clarified the effectiveness and necessity of nature experience activities, as well as the difficulty of doing them alone by families, and aimed at continuing to provide experience activities for children with disabilities even after funding ends. As results, we confirmed that experiencing nature activities by the sea has many effects, such as developing sensitivity, building a strong body, and gaining self-confidence. However, it was difficult for parents to ensure safety, which was the biggest concern. If assistance and support for nature experience activities for children with disabilities were recognized as the nursing experience training required to obtain a teaching license, this would lead to a solution to the problem. Furthermore, the issue of sustainability will be resolved by requiring the application form used when selecting a business organization to specify how support will be continued after the end of the financial support period, and by making sustainability an important evaluation point for selection.
