Description

The Association of International Education in Japan opened to the universities a sample set of Japanese language test of the " Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students" in May, 2001. In my view, this sample Japanese test has the following points at issue: 1. A small number of questions 2. Too much stress on listening comprehension 3. Too little stress on reading comprehension 4. No questions about Kanji comprehension and basic academic vocabularies 5. Too uniform questions 6. Too many questions about student life matters 7. Too casual expressions in the test dialogues between students Finally, research and study about the essence of the 'Academic Japanese1 is encouraged.
