Description

The examination of cuffless blood pressure monitor equations is necessary to enhance the accuracy of blood pressure estimation. In this study, with the aim of improving the accuracy of cuffless blood pressure monitor equations, we utilized pulse wave and blood pressure data registered in a public database to create an optimal equation using parameters that can more accurately estimate blood pressure from characteristic values used in estimating blood pressure using pulse waves. Additionally, we conducted experiments to verify whether an experimental apparatus composed of a PC implementing this equation with a commercially available pulse oximeter meets the accuracy requirements for cuffless blood pressure monitors, according to the precision requirements of the non-invasive sphygmomanometry standards. The results of experiments conducted with 18 subjects aged between 20 and 50 years showed that the cuffless blood pressure calculated from pulse waves measured by the experimental apparatus using the optimal equation met the required accuracy, indicating the equationps potential for general use. Furthermore, it was considered that by using different values for the parameters of cuffless blood pressure calculation equations for systolic and diastolic blood pressure, the accuracy of blood pressure estimation could be improved.
