Description

An education program in which elementary schoolchildren made a Keplerian telescope was developed. The telescope was built from lenses sold in a 100-yen shop, PVC pipes, and corrugated plastic. All the children were involved in constructing the telescope, and then engaged in various activities such as observing distant objects and the moon. This program enhanced the children’s interests in astronomy and handcrafting.
