Description
This paper examines how the post-liberation Potong-gang River Improvement Work was continuous with and disconnected from that of the colonial period, using the new material, "Pot'onggang River: report of its improvement project" (Pyongyang, 1946), and comparing it with the colonial period materials. The paper will also examine and elucidate many specific facts, such as the linkage between the various works that made up the construction of the improvement of the Potong-gang River, the landscape and characteristics of the various areas of Pyongyang where the construction work was carried out, and the process of completing the work after the liberation from Japanese colonial rule.
