Description

We propose an optical biosensing method based on DNA-functionalized colloidal crystals, which are not easily degraded in situ. Continuous measurement of interstitial fluid has been investigated for potential clinical applications. However, when used in situ, the biosensor is degraded by nucleases, which limits the measurement time of the sensor. We focused on the inhibition of nuclease activation by gold nanoparticles and the change in optical properties associated with the structuring of metal nanoparticles, and prepared DNA-functionalized colloidal crystals as a material with these properties. Through the optical characterization of the DNA-functionalized nanoparticle crystals, we have successfully measured their transmitted resonance wavelengths.
