<p>Smartphone use while walking or driving a vehicle involves the risk of traffic accidents. This study surveyed the smartphone usage and attitudes of traffic accident toward smartphone use while walking or driving of people who have experienced a smartphone use while doing so. The relationship between their personal attributes, smartphone usage, and attitudes toward smartphone use while walking or driving a vehicle was analyzed, as well as factors related to the timing of smartphone use while walking. The results showed that people in their 20s, male, and long-duration smartphone users were more likely to say that it is acceptable to use a smartphone while walking so long as no accidents occur.
