<p>ツツジ科の Agapetes 属は， 東ヒマラヤから東南アジアの亜熱帯、温帯地域に約 114 種が知られ，インドには約 57 種が分布している．インドのアルナチャル プラデシュ州から，観賞価値の高い稀産種 A. marginata が 85年ぶりに開花期に採集され，初めて花の生態写真と解剖写真が提供された．本種は中国（西蔵自治区南部あるいは南東部）とインドにのみ知られ，インドでは分布域が狭いことから IUCN の基準によると絶滅危惧種 (EN) と評価された．</p>
