Description

In case of the gravity observations by means of gravimeter, the most fundamental element is the accurate determination of scale constant. In operation of North-American Gravimeter or Worden Gravimeter, the scale constant originally given by its manufacture is usually adopted. Concerning the Askania Gravimeter, the scale constant is also given by the maker, but on the other hand the bead device in itself is conveniently and supplementary available as the calibrating device for the scale constant. In this paper, the calibration of the Askania Gs-11 Gravimeter No. 111 at eleven stations by the bead device is in detail discussed in case of earth tidal observation of gravity during the epoch of the International Geophysical Year.
