Abstract

The collapse of semi-submersible offshore structures with two lower-hulls in beam seas is analysed and the relation between period and steepness of waves which attribute the collapse of structures is obtained. The method of analysis is considerably simplified by assuming that the buckling strength of a diagonal and horizontal bracing determine the collapse load of structures and by picking out the two load conditions which are closely related to the collapse of structures.
